I Pyrograph on many different types of wood. My favourite being Camphor Laurel. This wood is from a tree that is deemed a "pest" by the "experts". Other timbers I use include: Red Ceder, Huon & Hoop Pine, White Beech, European and Silky Oak. I sometimes Pyrograph on veneered plywood, although the quality of this has worsened over the years. For the Pyrography I use either an IRONCORE T3/54 or an ND1 which are both hot wire burners. On softer grained timbers I use a JANIK G4 for finer detail. The G4 is a hot point burner. |
NEVER Pyrograph or burn on manmade "timber" Such as: MDF, Particle Board, Chip Board or Craftwood etc.. These "timbers" release lethal toxic fumes when burnt Inhaling these fumes can cause major respiratory damage. |
