Plywood
was once one of the major products made in the area I live in. Now
none is produced here, it is imported.
As the forests became "managed", the timber industry ceased
to exist here. It was replaced by unemployment.
So now we have to contend ourselves with the imported Plywood, it's
not too bad, but the quality can vary.
The term Veneer, refers to the top and bottom outer sheets that cover
the core layers.
This veneer is usually very thin and will not tolerate heavy Pyrography
work.
It is easy to penetrate the veneer layer and ruin the piece.
I now only do Pyrography work on Veneered Plywood if requested by
the customer.
